Elementary Science 3.0 & Cosmic Conversations with Children Presentation at DSU in St. George, Utah

I spent the last few days visiting Dixie State University in St. George, Utah. In addition to discussing science education with the administration and faculty at DSU, I gave a presentation on elementary science education in Utah as it relates to the sun and moon. While the clouds obscured our outdoor exploration of lunar and solar eclipses, luckily the faculty provided us with torches (flashlights) that our future elementary teachers could use to explore this ancient Greek activity. We modified it with the use of mobile phones which I am still pondering from the perspective of Elementary Science 3.0. I believe a hands on lunar app could be designed for this grade.
